Svyatoy Petr (St.Peter) Russia, 1795.
74-gun battleship.
Scale 1:90. Sizes: length 960 mm, height 750 mm.
The 74-gun battleship Svyatoy Petr was laid down in 1795 at Kherson and built from
the drafts of Katasanov, a naval architect. The innovation in the ship's construction was
that the aftercastle and quarterdeck were joined with a solid deck. Such construction
had been applied on similar battleships in European navies long ago. This reinforced
the fore-and-aft durability and formed the second covered gundeck that improved the
crew's conditions.
The ship joined Admiral Ushakov's Mediterranean Squadron and became the flagship of the
detachment of capt. Senyavin (outstanding admiral and naval commander afterwards). She
participated in the siege and assault of Corfu and remained in the Mediterranean up to
1807. At the end of her service the Svyatoy Petr was transferred into transport.
Before the squardon left for Russia, she was sunk at Kotor Bay.
