The 64-gun battleship Moskva was laid down on October 30, 1712 at the Admiralty
shipyard, along with her sister ship Ingermanland. Built by R. Kozinets, a naval
architect. Like the Ingermanland, Moskva was launched June 27, 1715.
Commissioned in 1716. Decommissioned in 1723.
The battleship Moskva was built according to the shipbuilding program of 1707,
from plans worked out by Peter the Great in person. Along with her sister ship
Ingermanland she was the first powerful battleship in the Russian Fleet which
did not yield in her abilities and armament to best ships of the Great Powers. It was the
Moskva that for the first time was armed in accordance with a new standard.
Thus 24-pdr. guns were installed on the lower deck, 12-pdr. - on the upper deck,
6-pdr. - on the after superstructure.
The Moskva was the first ship in the Russian Navy named after the capital of the
Russian State.
Plank-on-frame construction. Guns and decorations are die-cast, painted. The characteristic
model's appearance is reached using natural precious woods: decks - box, boards - light
and dark walnut, underwater part - mahogany. The rigging is made on the basis of famous
reconstructions of ships of the Peter's period - Goto Predestination and
Ingermanland. Hand-made sails.
