Malbruk (Marlborough), 1716.
Dutch 80-gun battleship.
Scale 1:75. Sizes: length 750 mm, height 750 mm, width 320 mm.
Built in Holland. Initially armed with 70 guns. Named after the Duke
Malborough, the chief commander of the united English-Dutch Army which
defeated the French several times. Later sold to Russia.
Sailed in the Baltic. In 1718 Vitus Bering was the ship's commander.
Later Bering became a famous traveler and investigator of the Russian
Far East. The Malbruk was the flagship of one of the detachments
of the Fleet. Up to 1724 she was in the first line.
Plank-on-frame hull with double planking. The above-water part of the hull
is planked with walnut of various colors while the underwater part is
planked with oak.
